did i tell you my boring story?
i spent the last 3 weeks watching these drillers drill holes in the ground. "bore holes", they were called. and i had to take notes, or "log", the drilling. here's a drill: drill
now that i'm back in the office for a week, i have to complete the bore hole logs. or as they're more commonly known, "boring logs." here's an example: boring log.pdf.
after seeing this, you might be thinking, "ooh, look at all of that geologic and lithologic information on that boring log. quite fascinating."
thinking that would make. the kind of person that deserves to be punched in the genitals. why do you think they call them BORING logs?

so i was looking at mark phillip's site and read about the penises. i don't mean to copy, but there's something about the site that mark failed to point out. click on this: healthy penis.
if you don't want to look at it, here is what i want to focus on. there is a cartoon on the left side of the page. two penises are on the phone with each other having a conversation. the text on top of the cartoon reads: "throughout san francisco's gay community, penises are preparing for a protest"
penis 1: "we have to stop this madness! spread the word!"
penis 2: "okay, i'll be there!"
i need friends like these penises. not that i want to meet more penises. the focus is not on the penises themselves, but on their attitudes. you can see the determination on penis 1's face. "face". and the willingness and eagerness to help on penis 2.
my friends are all too lazy and boring and cheap. and i know that they would be all too happy to let this, or any, madness continue forever.
that's enough penis talk. i plan to never write about penises on this blog again.

so there's that song by my good friend "p diddy" that's called "shake your tailfeather". though i'm sure it's spelled very differently. it's hard to spell when you're from the mean streets, i suppose. so the first few lines of nelly's opening rap have me confused. here are the lines i want to discuss:
"...blah blah blah... who your name is." who your name is? are you for real? i cannot imagine living like that.
ok. then it goes on (this is probably in the next line or two):
"...is that your ass, or your momma have reindeer."
now i'm sure i've just heard nelly wrong, but it really sounds like that's what he's saying. now if that is indeed the line, what the hell is going on?

today's been a good day. so far. i know that by bragging about how good the day's been, the chances for afternoon disaster will go through the roof. but whatever. i won't have time or energy to brag later.
so today i took out the new guy. it's nice not being the new guy. and though i get the feeling that no one else really wants to take out the new guy, that's ok. it made me feel not so worthless. and then instead of having to watch the drillers drill, i get to spend the time in the office staring at my computer screen. on a normal day, i'd be bored and lifeless after staring at the computer for half an hour. but today, after spending every day out in the sun and dirt and grime for the past three weeks, this is just perfect. and ooh ooh! they got us new cell phones at work. these nextel deals. and i got to do the walkie talkie deal with my friend kyu, who is in san fran. and the walkie talkie deal is apparently free for me.
these stories today were really boring. pretty pitiful. i'll try to do better next time, guys. sorry.
maybe i'll try to witness a bank robbery or something. but i never go to the bank. hm... maybe i'll make up a story about something fun and exciting. like passing out after a surf injury or watching crazy people who pee on everything.
so i have another week of work coming up. yay. out in the field again watching drillers drill. it's an environmental investigation of this military base. it's really good and exciting as far as environmental engineering projects go. but when you compare it to a day of surfing, napping, and reading, can you really get that excited?
a friend from mit came into town this weekend. she's a sailor who came into port. "hey there, sailor..." she took me to see the ship she'll be on for the next 9 months of deployment. eesh. the ship was pretty cool. but all ship all the time for 9 months? so i tried to show her the prettiest things of hawaii, so she can think of that instead of the poop deck. (apparently, there is no poop deck on her ship. i don't know if i believe.)
is the poop deck really what i think it's for?
today, after work, i came home. then i did nothing.
i did nothing, and it was everything i thought it could be.
did i really? yes. yes i did. i wrote an amazingly witty, funny, enjoyable post and then i did something and the computer blew up. bastards.
no. it didn't really blow up. but the post is gone. all that work. gone. so now i will go back to work in the hot hot sun. having hot hot fun. no. not really.
it's been a few days. and everything has changed. oh! the world is ending! so melodramatic! i can no longer live!
so mealani left on wednesday morning. early early wednesday morning. and by now she's in england and has been doing tons of crazy things, like driving on the wrong side of the road, whizzing by cows and sheep and weathering thunderstorms. and the only things i've really gotten done are getting to work ontime (sort of) and doing laundry once (finally). it's tough not having her here. i can't help but imagine how things would be and what things we'd be doing if she was still here. she would have gotten a little better at surfing, i bet. i probably still wouldn't have done my laundry or paid my bills. bleh.
ok. so what's next? ericlau is moving! yay! not very far, admittedly. i'm moving about a mile away. a bit further than the surf, but there'll be a kitchen and almost twice the space. sweet. so life is easy and awesome? kinda. but kinda hassles, too. the place is grimy and sticky and greasy. ew. me no like. so i'm gonna head over there today to clean some stuff up and plan out the renovations. it's like work week in the frat. except i get to sleep. and i'm all alone. and i'm in hawaii. ok go!
