frightened

i know halloween is coming up and all. and that's great. but there are REAL-LIFE things going on that are frightening me.

in today's news:

1) Child to 911 dispatcher: 'My daddy killed me with a butcher knife'

"My daddy killed me with a knife and I'm gone," the boy told a dispatcher. "Can you please send the Army men or the ambulance?"

2) Attacker 'bit off woman's tongue'

He seriously sexually assaulted her and bit off her tongue before she struggled free.

proof that hawaii is dumb

Red Sox or Rainbows — a radio dilemma

they cut from game 4 of the world series to play an everyday UH women's volleyball game.

lifted

i'm back. i'm healthy. i'm not shot in the eye. the redsox won the whole fricking thing.

it was a very, very good trip.

rundown and pictures to follow.

-- Jeanne Zelasko: "Do you believe in curses?"
-- Manny: "I don't believe in curse, I believe you make your own destination."

wtf?

seriously. have you looked at prices to go to fenway for a world series game? ridiculous. you search and search and end up noticing yourself saying things like, "oh, these are only $1000." ONLY. ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
eesh.

but i'm there. but who to cheer for the most?

i like schilling for the simple fact that he is some kind of strange biomedical experiement gone right. i also like the fact that he has that large belly while being one of the best players in the game.

i like pedro for his hair and that line about something and a mango tree. or whatever he said. he's dumb.

i like wakefield cause he throws balls to the pitcher that the pitcher can't catch. a knuckleballer throwing knuckleballs to catchers who can't catch knuckleballs. fun.

i like damon because he's a fellow halfbreed (half white/half asian). i also like him because of that captain caveman look. something i'd like to try some day. i actually was hating him, but then game 7 happened.

it's gonna take too long to list all the players and my likes. but special mention goes to varitek for smacking a-rod in the face. a-rod is so lame.

i can figure this all out on the plane. and i will. good good. i leave tonight and get there a few hours before game 1. it'll be good stuff. as long as i don't get shot in the eye...

going going gone

so boston won. good good. what to do? what to do?

ok. i'm going to boston. it's decided. it's booked. tomorrow night i leave. i get back wednesday. bones is looking for tickets to the game and he's supplying floorspace to sleep on.

it's gonna be good. it's gonna make history. it's gonna be ridiculous.

done

we're done. a frightening end of the game. it's amazing how we can be up by 2 in the bottom of the ninth, and you can just FEEL the danger in the air. as if being up by 2 makes you more scared. it's ridiculous.

things we learned: 12 year-old girls are honest. belhorn isn't the most useless player on the redsox. a-rod is stupid, ugly, and a cheat.

was that seriously blood on schilling's ankle? holy crap.

and we're still waiting on that free tv. dammit.

see you in game 7.

top of the 8th

we're looking good.
i'm home tense. it's 4-1, and all signs are pointing toward a game 7 tomorrow. and there's a sense that my free tv might show up any minute now. i'm two beers in, have the surround sound kicking, and everything seem very, very good. for now...

14

14 innings makes as much sense as 19 runs. this series has been crazy. i'm still not sure if i love the redsox or hate them. i want to love them, but the make me cry.

but seriously, how am i suppose to get work done with the games going on? how does anybody? suggestions?

Posted by ericlau at 11:28 PM

soooooo slooooow

seriously. i really need streaming audio or video or something. this espn 30-second refresh thing isn't doing it. and my F5 key is at risk of breaking.

go redsox

free tv, part 34

just when i realize how long i've waited for this silly freeflatscreens.com thing to actually happen, when i start to lose hope, when i start to doubt the goodness and purity of internet scams, the do something. something small, yet powerful enough to fully restore my hopes and dreams and energy.

this morning, my status just changed from "sent to vendor, waiting on product" to "shipped".

now i still concede that this might not mean i'll ever get my free tv. but i still believe...

redsox-yankees

so today is the day. redsox-yankees ALCS. i'm excited. i'm so excited that i can't do ay work. i think i've just read all of the articles on espn.com that are even remotely related to the series. i've got the ALT-TAB going so i can read all the articles, write this post, and quickly flip it to the web app that i'm developing. "developing".

so i really don't have a home sports team. the team i have is the UH football team. and they suck. they're not the worst team ever, but they really don't give anyone a reason to be oh-so-proud.

wait. that's not entirely true. i have my UH women's volleyball team. they're good. they consistently perform well and exciting to watch. not to mention they are almost always very pleasing to the eye. this season's star: victoria.

anyway, the point is that i don't have a professional sports team to love. none. for some reason, my favorite players include green bay's brett favre, colorado's joe sakic, and philadelphia's allen iverson. where's the continuity? where's the logic that someone can follow? no idea. bleh.

but i did live in boston for 5 years. it's my link to a real-live, actual sports team that has a chance to make it big. and so that's it. i'm a fan. their hate for the yankees flows through my body and i just yearn for someone to clock a-rod in the head again.

flashback: it's 2003 and i'm living in a small studio in waikiki. the same one that mark is gonna move into. i dug out of work early, grabbed some ribs at nearby tony romas, and was enjoying a beer. it was game 7 of the ALCS and things were looking good. well, kind of good. then things started to look bad. then aaron boone hit that home run. my window was open. the sun was going down and there were only a few clouds in the sky. you can usually hear the low city sounds of cars or buses going by, but there's nothing that's too loud. when he hit that ball, before they showed the ball in flight, as if it was a reflex-reaction to the sound and sight of the bat cracking that ball, i heard three different voices from outside my window screaming, almost in unison. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

it was horrible. it won't happen again, will it?

it they make it to the world series, i'm gonna do everything i can to make it to boston for at least one of the games. i don't much care how much it will cost. i'm going. see you there.

sweet.

so i was looking at my "web statistics" page. it tells me how many times my pages are viewed in a day and what domains and ISPs are being used to view my blog. another feature is the list tells me what websites referred people to my blog. a bunch of them were from mark and bryan. and some from other sites that make sense. but then there was a single referral from a site that i didn't expect: www.sexsq.com/. i'm at work, so i haven't gone to check out the site. but from the url, i think i know what it's about.

it's probably not the case, but i'm sitting here at work imagining what is going through the sexsq webmaster's head: "hm...people are here looking for porn, but that might not be enough for them. let's offer them the option to send themselves to eric's blog for some REAL action..."

screaming

i have this feeling like my life is going screaming by me. i mean that both because it feels like it is going by quickly, and also because i feel like something is making a loud, distracting noise as my life is going by.

at the same time, i don't feel like i'm doing too badly at life. i'm doing pretty well at my jobs, i'm well on my way to being ready to run the marathon in december, i'm slowly getting my financial life set, and i'm making slow progress on renovating my apartment.

i think i'm searching for balance between doing ambitious things, getting things done, and my ever-present desire to spend a day surfing, eating, sleeping, and playing with hot chicks.

and wouldn't that make it all that much better ("it" being 'hot chicks')? think about it: you don't know what to do with your life. worry worry. ok. now you have the same problem, but you have a few hot chicks hanging around you. a bit less worrying, huh? i'd say so.

and i know someone could use the prospect of hot chicks hanging around you to strike it rich, but that's not what i'd want to do. if i was heading it up, it'd be a non-profit. it'd help make the world better, one hottie at a time. no. make the world a better place WITH one hottie at a time. or maybe it'd be making the world a better place with more hotties than you could ever imagine. yeah. that'd be nice.

AL oe

so i got this plant as a housewarming gift from my friend, jenn. it was a very good plant. it never asked for much. i put it near the window and watered it every few days. last week it started to get less green. it got this sickly brown color. i was worried. then i noticed that it had a few small baby aloe plants growing underneath its arms.

i went to home depot and got some pots and dirt (soil) and replanted. now i have one big parent aloe and three small baby aloe pots next to it. it's a nice little family. and i'm the proud caretaker of them all.

also: if you live on this island, and you would like an aloe plant, let me know. i'll set you up. cause i'm all about the love.
